1 Nephi 9 (A Wise Purpose)

In seminary in high school I was told that the wise purpose of why Nephi created two sets of plates is that the pages that Oliver Cowdry lost where the plates of Lehi. So, because Nephi kept the record and related the things that his father had told him we still have the record that Lehi would have us know.

I don't know if this is the right story behind Oliver Cowdry loosing the pages, but I think that is what I was told. I guess don't quote me.
